Milldred Milli Marks has been a pioneer in both her career and personal life
in Western New York.
Marks graduated from high school in 3 1/2 years, went on to graduate Cum
Laude from business school and attended courses at area colleges.
Back in the 1960s she became the first president of the East Buffalo
Republican Women Power Club and has been politically active ever since.
She was also the first women to hold the position of Chief Tax Accountant
in the Erie County Department of Finance.
Most recently, Marks was honored as a Distinguished Member of the
International Society of Poets, placing her in the top 2 percent of poets.
Her religious inspired poems have been published by the National Library
of Poetry over the last 5 years and were included in the Best Poems of 1995,
Best Poems of 1996 and Best Poems of 1997.
Marks, at 81 years is also actively involved in the Road to Emmaus prayer
group at Infant of Prague Church.
Socially, Marks has been a member of the Buffalo Revolver and Rifle Club since 1974, when it was the Buffalo Womens Pistol Club. She is right on target in all her activities.
