Native Buffalonian John H. (Jack) Heitzhaus established himself as a vital
and caring member of the Western New York community during his 40-year career at Niagara
Mohawk Power Corp.
He has been active with the United Way and Catholic Charities for over 30
years. Jack has served as Chairman of the Channel 17 Great TV Auction in 1982, and was Key
Club Membership Chairman for the former Greater Buffalo Chamber of Commerce. In addition,
he is Past President of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Western New York.
Jack was a Board Director for the Niagara Frontier Vocational
Rehabilitation Center from1989-1995, and is presently a Board of Directors member for the
South Buffalo Community Table. He is a member of the South Buffalo Businessmens
Association, a member of the Mens Sustaining Society of Mercy Hospital, and serves
as a Sector Eucharist Minister and Trustee of Holy Family Catholic Church.
In 1986, Jack was honored by the local chapter of the National Society of
Fund Raising Executives with its Outstanding Volunteer Fund Raiser Award, and in 1993 the
United Way presented him with its Volunteer of the Year Award.
A former Trustee of Trocaire College, he left the College Board to take on
his current position as Campaign Coordinator for Trocaire's Capital Campaign Building
Fund. Jack has provided great leadership in helping to continue to solicit financial
support for Trocaire.
Family and friends take center stage in Jacks life. He and his wife, Patricia, are the proud parents of eight children who have blessed them with 18 grandchildren. The more, the merrier is a good motto for this South Buffalo resident who uses his talent, experience and caring attitude to help create a better future for generations to come.
