Being the Executive Vice President/Administration for the Buffalo Sabres and Marine Midland Arena can keep a man busy, as Ron Bertovich knows.
The Stanley Cup Playoff Games and Finals were a welcomed additional challenge that Ron handled with excellence.
In his role with the Sabres, Ron oversees all day-to-day operations of the team in the areas of broadcast, ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship, amateur athletics, operations and arena events.
Bertovich joins the team while also serving as the Executive Vice President of the Empire Sports Network, the television home of the Sabres. He was hired by the regional sports network in February of 1994 and was instrumental in the introduction of FAN TV, the Empire Sports Report and the growth of the network to 1.1 million subscribers throughout Western and Central New York.
Prior to joining the network Ron served as the Commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference from 1986-1994.
Ron graduated from St. Francis (PA) College in 1976 with a degree in Business Management. He has also earned a masters degree in Industrial Relations from St. Francis and a masters in Athletic Administration from Ohio State University.
In addition to his other activities Ron serves as a board member with the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the Buffalo Convention and Visitors Bureau and on the local organization committees for the upcoming NCAA basketball and hockey championships to be held in Buffalo.
A native of Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, Ron and his wife Cheryl have two daughters: Meghan Lynn (12) and Kimberly Lynn (11). The Bertovich family resides in Getzville, New York.
